Spelling Menu
Objective: Students will learn to spell spelling or word wall words.
When I worked with older students, we had a school-wide spelling curriculum we were required to teach. I provided students with a menu of activities to choose from each week as an alternative to the workbook.
When working with younger students, these were activities they could do using word wall words or their personal flashcards (they had a metal ring of index cards containing words they repeatedly struggled with in their reading and writing).
- ABC Chicken Dance
- Objective: Students will practice letter/sound recognition
- Play chicken dance song
- Hold up flash cards with letters and make sound to music (this really needs the video to do it justice)
